President of the Road Arrested in Raleigh Depot Case

Asheville July 27 Developments in the railroad rate law controversy include the arrest of Southern Railway President Finley at Battery Park hotel and City Ticket Agent Wilson who was selling tickets to Lake Toxaway. Finley released on habeas corpus. Wilson held on own recognizance with police court trial set for Monday.

Joint Institute At The Academy In Pocatello Attendance

Teachers from seven southeast Idaho counties meet in Pocatello for a joint county institute August 26 to 30. Supt Siders will supervise with national reputation lectures from the National Educational association. About 400 teachers expected. Dock Workers Strike Remains Unsettled in Duluth

The great Dock Workers strike in Duluth Minnesota continues with no immediate settlement. United States Steel Corporation sent a message urging return to the old deal and an open up plan, but the workers voted to stay out.

Idaho Convict Escapes From State Penitentiary

Charles Peterson, a semi-trusty keeper of the bees, escaped from the Idaho state penitentiary yesterday afternoon after obtaining permission to chase a swarm that had moved into the hills. He is believed to have used kerosene on his shoe soles to leave no scent, and no trace has been found. Peterson was serving a two year term for grand larceny in Bingham County and was received earlier this year.

Bad Train Wreck in Butler Kills Three Protects Injuries

Three men are dead and around twenty others injured after a passenger train wreck on the Allegheny & Western near Butler Pennsylvania. Rescue crews rushed to the scene as investigators began assessing the cause of the collision.

Young Charles Reeves Accused of Burglary at Gray News Stand

Charles Reeves, a well connected local youth, faces arraignment before Justice J M Masonheimer on burglary charges. If not guilty, a preliminary examination is set for next Tuesday at 10. Deputy McGarvey served the warrant. Reeves allegedly burglarized Gray News depot store on April 4, with jewelry stolen. Three Bocatelio youths and two Brown brothers were arrested in Malad for peddling the same stolen jewelry. they led Deputy McGarvey to Reeves and will testify against him.

Heroic Jap Saves Woman From Dupont Fire

A Japanese cook from the adjoining Orphan Knights house rescued Miss Fay after a coal oil stove explosion at the Dupont home on North Main street. Fay’s clothing ignited and Mrs. Dupont burned her hands while trying to douse the flames. the cook wrapped Fay in his apron and extinguished the blaze.

Eastern writers to visit Pocatello en route to Minidoka tract

A party of eastern newspaper correspondents will arrive in Pocatello next week while en route to the Minidoka irrigation project. The group, including C. J. Janchard and W. W. Jermaine, will tour western reclamation efforts and meet federal officials overseeing forest lands. Arrival date not announced. The reporters are being hosted in Utah this week.
