Berlin report describes a high level meeting among U S Russia and Britain officials to align on Berlin policy. General Lucius D Clay outlined a readiness to discuss all German issues though not under duress and noted continued air supply to Berlin and a plan to begin new airport construction.
The 92 ton Lockheed Constitution, the Navy's largest aircraft, completed a 2600 mile cross country flight from Moffett Field California to Patuxent River Maryland arriving at 5 47 p m EST. It carried 168 passengers and averaged 260 mph aided by tailwinds. The craft is one of two built for the Navy at a cost near 27 million dollars. It will be flown to Washington and New York before returning to California for further testing.
Doris Stewart 19 from Denver tried to take own life by Lysol at 1240 East Center. She was found in a room, rushed to General hospital where the poison was removed. Domestic trouble was cited. she is jailed on vagrancy as investigation continues.
Uruguayan police said they smashed a plan to smuggle 13 Polish Jews and a Uruguayan guide toward Argentina near Paisandu. Six men five women and two children were arrested while claiming wartime Buchenwald camp experience and transit visas for Paraguay.

In Yakima Washington a large round aluminum covered balloon-like object was sighted for more than five hours Sunday, moving westward at high altitude. Civil Aeronautics Administration observers George Robinson and Don Hunt tracked the object with binoculars as planes from Yakima and Richland failed to subdue its path, triggering dozens of calls to police and the airport.

Ray Bush of Twin Falls won the grand award at the Pocatello model airplane contest after a one-man display Sunday afternoon. He scored 339 points in three events, 230 ahead of his nearest rival George Howell of Blackfoot, securing the top trophy.
The 15th bombardment squadron, Idaho’s sole air force reserve unit on active duty this year, departs at 8 AM from Pocatello AFB for Geiger Field Spokane Washington. Fifty five members travel in three transports for fifteen days of reservist training with cross country flights possibly to Labrador Honolulu or Fairbanks. Leaders include Lt Col Charles Ward Captain Bill Hill Major Bud MacKenzie Major Gagan and flight leaders from Idaho Falls and Twin Falls. This marks the second annual postwar training and the unit will return August 9.
Washington August 7 Congress will decide which age groups are called first for the draft. Draft director Maj. Gen. Lewis B Hershey said the intent of congress is unclear and he will consult with armed services conference committee members for suggestions. The house and senate had differing versions on aging decisions, with the final bill stripping presidential authority. Consideration had been given to drafting 25 year olds first under the law allowing ages 19 through 25.
Ada county authorities report one unidentified hitchhiker died after a car left the road 50 feet over a bank and plunged into the Payette river. The driver, George Miller of Bois, was in shock but survived. The car landed upright on a boulder. the hitchhiker’s body had not yet been recovered.
President Truman completed work on the anti-inflation message to Congress and will address lawmakers in person at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday. He returned to Washington from a Potomac weekend cruise with aides and top speech writers.

Two armed inmates fled Detroit Receiving Hospital after overpowering guards and fleeing in a cab with a woman inside. Det. Lt. Squire Parkinson said Julius Boykin of Detroit and Harry McQuire of Gary Indiana fired shots but nobody was hurt. Boykin had leg injury and the weapon was smuggled in by a woman.
Portland salvage teams recovered two more bodies from the Vanport ruins two months after the Columbia River flood destroyed the housing project city of about 18 700 residents. The 12th and 13th victims were unidentified as waters still linger in streets north of Portland. Crews press on through wreckage as Fifteen people remain missing from Memorial Day disaster.

In Denver a 19 year old soldier, James W. Scott, remains in serious condition after being stabbed Saturday night in a phone booth at Union Station as he attempted a final call to Penny Zilewski before departing for Tinker Field. Detective Sgt. Fred Zamow identified Abelano Hurado, 37, of Las Vegas New Mexico, as the attacker who stabbed Scott in the abdomen and chest and said he stabbed the wrong man.
Southern Democrats guard against a Republican push in the Senate to pass Truman civil rights bills. Senator Eastland of Mississippi said there is a chance at least one of the proposals could clear the special session opening today.
