U S Justice Robert H Jackson urged the Nuremberg tribunal to convict all 22 Nazi leaders as conspirators in waging aggressive war. He linked Goering and co defendants to Hitler's acts and the Nazi plan, while noting other counts would be pursued by allied prosecutors.
Soviet delegate Andrei Gromyko to open debate on a proposal for an international convention outlawing atomic weapons. The plan has little support beyond Poland as the United States leads calls for strict controls before giving up nuclear advantage. A U S spokesman says Gromyko will present and hear all delegates opinions.
Indictments returned charging 17 year old William Heirens with the kidnap slayings of Suzanne Degnan and Frances Brown in two nine count cases. Defense may seek insanity. sanity tests planned after arraignment next week.

Panic spread in central Jerusalem as a bomb alarm prompted mass evacuations near police HQ and the post office. Police armored cars arrived and later announced the alarm false, while Jews were rounded up in Jerusalem Tel Aviv and Haifa and sent to Latrun camp.
Acting Police Chief R O Bond reports 11 month old daughter of Mr and Mrs L A Blankenship was kidnapped at a Bluefield bus terminal. The mother Myrtle Blankenship, en route from Newton Georgia to Logan West Virginia, left the baby with a woman in a rest room who took the child and disappeared.
Senator Gossett of Idaho was diagnosed with mumps at Bethesda Naval Hospital after entering for what was described as a cold. Doctors reported normal temperature and he could be released by late next week if stable.

Funeral services will be held Sunday in Salt Lake City for 73 year old Lorenzo N. Stohl a noted Brigham Brigham city business leader. Stohl organized the First National Bank in Brigham and later helped form the Beneficial Life Insurance company serving as vice president and manager for 22 years. He was active in the Latter Day Saints church and ran the Stohl Furniture company in Brigham before relocating to Salt Lake City.

The chamber of commerce urges a freight rate of eight dollars per ton for westbound Geneva steel from the Geneva plant near Provo Utah at a San Francisco hearing on July 31. Attorney General Tom Clark ordered a complete investigation by the civil rights section of the Justice Department into the slaying of four Negroes near Monroe Georgia as armed white men waylaid a farmer and the victims on a northeast Georgia road. Sheriff E S Gordon said the four were killed at a bridge over the Apalache river while riding with Lou Harrison en route to Harrison's farm. The victims were Roger Malcolm 27 his wife and two others identified as Malcolm's wife and George Dorsey and his wife.
Washington reports the OPA revival bill approved by President Truman restores mine production subsidies worth up to 100 million dollars for the current fiscal year. The conference report adds a retroactive premium price plan to June 30, 1946, while a clause lets price ceilings be removed if world prices surge and imports or domestic trade drop. Western senators seek interpretation from the price administration amid hints the clause targets hides.
Veterans gathered at the Ve lox naval supply depot for a five million dollar government surplus sale. More than 36 veterans slept at the gate to secure first access, with lines of sleeping bags arranged to show each position. Gate camping continued through Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.
