Gen. George C. Kenney told Emperor Hirohito that allied air power can reach any part of the Japanese empire including the emperor’s palace. In Sacramento a night watchman, 81, discharged his weapon after a man Benito Aguilar 55 of Woodland allegedly stole an ear of corn from a victory garden. The suspect fled and was shot twice, dying from neck and chest wounds. An ear of corn was found in Aguilar's hand.
