Truman to seek flexible foreign arms plan with 1.45 billion
President Truman will ask Congress Monday for a flexible program of arms aid abroad totaling 1.45 billion dollars. It includes a 45 million dollar emergency fund and 155 million to spur European armament production. European ATLANTIC pact partners would receive the bulk to bolster defense against red aggression. Senator Vandenberg urged a stop gap until the advisory council under the pact can name a defense committee.
