Constantine Pobedensteff, procurator general of the holy synod, states Russia is not yet ready for parliamentary self government. He cites lack of leaders and education, blames foreign papers and warns that reforms show weak intellectual power and may worsen unrest. He says true freedom and local self government require national character and capable men.

Diego July 24 Following yesterday’s burial of forty seven dead from the gunboat Bennington naval officers completed the casualty list. They report fifty eight dead all identified forty six injured in hospitals ninety one uninjured and one deserter. Some injured remain in critical condition.

Rufus Baker of Dempsey was shot by masked robbers in the McCammon railway yards yesterday around 3 am. He clung to a box car ladder when one robber fired into his left shoulder. the lung was spared and surgery removed the bullet. Baker is in recovery in the city. police have not yet captured the assailants.
The Clay Moochers of Idaho Falls defeated the Pocatello Savages 8 to 4 in a lively game. Dicky Knox led Idaho Falls with a first-inning three-base hit and scored the first run, while Irvine Jensen homered in the ninth. Knox clashed with umpire Setley after an out call, causing a crowd stir.
A telephone message reports Sugar City beating Rexburg 6 to 4 at Rexburg this morning. The Sugar City team secured the victory in a brisk game and the result was conveyed to The Tribune this afternoon.
At St Anthony yesterday the local team defeated Sugar City 4 to 0. Pitcher Hoon starred for St Anthony while Taylor pitched for Sugar City. Hoon kept his opponents from scoring as Sugar City struggled to hit.
Kimberley Idaho July 24. Minidoka Southwestern railway reached town yesterday. Opening lot sale starts August 8 and Kimberley Townsite Company with $100,900 capital announced. Officers include Fred W Gooding president Frank Burrington vice president James McMillan secretary and manager George E Peterson treasurer. Lots offered with one third cash and balance due in one and two years at low interest. Kimberley already hosts a general store drug store lumber yard restaurant and new buildings. The townsite is surveyed and platted and aims to become a regional center on the Twin Malls tract.
A six year old boy was severely bitten by a large mastiff at South Cleveland Avenue yesterday after the dog attacked during mealtime. The dog, described as protective of the children, was killed by the father that evening. A bystander, Harry Jones, intervened and helped carry the boy to safety. Doctor Castle reported no fear of lasting harm.
