Harry Gross Earl Eddie and Henry Pepper of Portland Oregon confessed to local police they were responsible for numerous travelers' checks forgeries stolen in Portland and passed in Salt Lake City. They exonerated others also arrested. several suspects to be released while two women from Portland were held as witnesses.
Cairo reports severe rioting with one death and 87 people injured, 27 seriously, as political tensions reach a climax. Police and security forces faced escalating violence and missile use during the unrest in the Egyptian capital.
Eugene Grace testified in the Youngstown case that as Bethlehem Steel president he received a 1929 bonus of 1,623,753 dollars on top of a 12,000 dollar salary. He said the bonus is 3.319 percent of net earnings after fixed charges, before depreciation, with specifics on earnings and bonus history since 1925.
Six victims including three British figures die when a Junkers passenger plane explodes over Meopham Kent. The craft bound from Le Grandqet France to Croydon, blows apart, scattering wreckage two miles away. Named victims include the Marquis of Dufferin and Ava and Viscountess Ednam.
Bucharest July 21 the acting interior minister Dr Constantin Angelescu was shot and gravely wounded by a young student who entered his office and fired two revolver shots. Angelescu a former Romanian minister and wartime figure was in precarious condition after the attack.

Pilots face a national circuit with stops including Buffalo New York Cincinnati Little Rock and Los Angeles before returning to Detroit on August 2.
Geneva Wisconsin July 21 AP Charles A Anderson 55 his wife 48 and son Willis 18 were killed with an axe at their farm home. Willis died after being wounded. Mrs Anderson was found in living room with wrists and throat cut. Brother Charles Larsen 40 injured a window while neighbors halted the arson attempt and entered to find the victims.
Salt Lake City deputy sheriff Karl Riedheim left for Twin Falls Idaho to question William Barnby 42 held on a charge of abducting two girls in connection with the murder of June Nelson a Salt Lake City girl nearly two years ago Barnby acted queerly when questioned but Twin Falls officers lack details of the slaying and asked Salt Lake officers to assist.
Wack Wilson hit his 28th and 29th homers of the season in the fourth and sixth innings to put the Cubs ahead 3 0 against the Giants. No one was on base when Hack hit his first shot but his second reached English at first.

A. M. Allcroft of Elizabeth New Jersey was charged with manslaughter and held on $1500 bail after a stalled automobile caused Saturday night’s Pennsylvania railroad derailment that killed one person and injured 68. Companions James Woncroft and William E. McNair were held as material witnesses on $500 bail.

In Wilkes Barre Pennsylvania Paul Skopka shot his employer Harry D. Serdoni and John T. Ruth then killed himself when cornered by a posse. A 17 year old daughter Frieda and son Francis were wounded. The victims included Kingston hundred owner Serdoni and Harvey's Lake police chief Ruth.
The Senate approved the London naval treaty by 58 to 9 after rejecting numerous reservations. An exception from Senator Norris accepted stating no secret agreement accompanies ratification. Britain and Japan must ratify for the pact to take effect. roll call shows 40 Republicans, 18 Democrats in favor, 7 Republicans and 2 Democrats opposed.
More than 100 Utah postmasters and post mistresses opened their annual convention with Salt Lake City Mayor John F. Bowman welcoming attendees. John A. I sraelson presided and George L Deupree of Marysville Washington spoke noting mail decline but only slight drop in volume amid overall weak business.
A 300 pound black bear in Melrose Park near Chicago climbed a tree and was shot by police after meeting approaching officers. The bear moved down toward them, then returned to the tree, where an officer fired multiple shots ending the animal’s life.
Butte Montana July 21 business activity returned to normal after a week of idle due to a strike by teamsters and auto mechanics joined by the clerks union. Stores and wholesale houses reopened under an agreement signed last night by employers and labor leaders. Details of the terms were not disclosed.
