Reports of a hurricane like storm reach Houston with all wires down. Galveston sea walls breached bathing pavilions wrecked and piers swept away as winds hit 60 miles per hour and surf surged. Wireless contact with Galveston failed by afternoon.
Paris reports the Clemenceau cabinet fell last night and a new ministry begins formation. Three holdovers from the old cabinet are expected. officials seek to solidify the Republican bloc to continue policies at home and abroad. A Bourgeois former foreign minister is rumored to head the new effort.
In Saratoff a staged murder turned real when actor M. Tashnakoff, playing the villain, killed the lover and then the heroine before shooting himself. The fatal scene caused panic and injuries among audience members as women fainted and spectators rushed for exits. The crime’s motive was jealousy, the report says.
Seattle July 21 dedication ceremonies marked the opening of the Japanese building at the Alaska-Yukon-Pacific exposition. Hajime Ota, commissioner general, and exposition president J. B.
