A man, George Andrew McMahon, 34, Scotsman, aimed a loaded revolver at King Edward VIII during a Buckingham Palace procession. A woman in grey knocked the weapon away and police detained the would–be assassin at Bow Street. He claimed a protest against Home Secretary Sir John Simon. Clarence E. Salzer 56, longtime composing room foreman for the Kansas City Star, died when his car overturned on the John Day highway near Ontario Oregon. Four companions survived including his widow Anna, daughter Kathryn 22, friend Edith Deltz 22, and son E R Salzer 20. The party had been visiting Bend and Klamath Falls and were en route home.

Buffalo lodge hosts the main rite with 40 to 50 braves. a Bannock creek group also dances west of Pocatello. The ceremony, in a willow enclosure, features buffalo skull, eagle bone whistles, drums, chanting, and willow pallets. The dance ends at sunrise July 23 followed by a feast and homeward travel by July 25.

Aker to Fight Girard Over Senate Ballot Access
Boise attorney Leslie J. Aker said he would file a petition for a writ of mandamus with the Idaho Supreme Court to force Secretary of State Franklin Girard to place his name on the Democratic primary ballot for the U S senate. Aker argues the filing deadline allowed until midnight July 11 for the $99 fee. his petitions were filed before 5 pm, and he telegraphed the money after closing but before midnight. He claims railroads and timber interests conspired to keep him off the ballot, noting support suggests he could beat Ross while Carver's entry affects his odds.
