Fish Hatchery Site Sought in Southeast Idaho

State Game Warden W N Stephens and Robert Stiles of the state fish hatchery toured through Pocatello en route north to inspect southeastern Idaho for a new state fish hatchery site. They plan to consider Fremont, Bannock, Bingham and Bear Lake counties as possible locations, with a Southeastern site favored if a decision is reached.

Explosion Injures 17 on Battleship Georgia at Cape Cod Bay

Washington reports 17 injured aboard the battleship Georgia during target practice in Cape Cod bay Massachusetts. Lieutenant Goodrich and Midshipmen Cruse and Goldwaite hurt Cruse seriously eight others injured, board of investigation ordered and ship to Boston navy yard for hospital transfer. Later reports state five men were killed in the explosion.

Four Italians on Trial for Murder in Louisiana

Four Italians facing trial in Hahnville for the kidnapping and murder of Walter Lamana a New Orleans child. Prosecutors seek to prove the slaying was part of a broader blackmail scheme by Italians in the region. Western seed representative visits Gate City

J. H. Hickey of Barteldi's Seed Company in Denver spent Sunday in the Gate City. He notes agricultural interests are rising rapidly and Hickey, formerly with Sioux City Seed, is well acquainted with western and northwest farming. He says farming is improving faster in the west than elsewhere.

Mountainhome Baseball Players Arrested on Rape Charge

Boise reports Tom Grayson and Everett Zimmerman of the Mountainhome team were arrested Sunday night on telegraphic instructions from Mountainhome, charged with raping a 15 year old girl. Both are jailed in the county facility.

Elks Slayer Binkley Seeks Writ of Habeas Corpus

An application for a writ of habeas corpus was filed at Pocatello seeking release of William Binkley the elk slayer held by order of the U S district attorney before transfer to Yellowstone National Park to answer elk slaughter charges. Purdy also detained, both convicted previously under the Lacey Act for unlawfully shipping game from Wyoming. 1500 to 2000 elk teeth found suggesting about 1000 elk slaughters.
