A KLM Constellation carrying 13 American correspondents and 32 others went down in monsoon rain near Bombay. The victims includedCharles Gratke H R Knickerbocker S Burton Heath and Lynn Mahan with 33 bodies recovered by nightfall. The plane struck a hill near Santa Cruz airfield 15 miles north of Bombay.

Caldwell Family Escapes Death In Plane Crash

Caldwell City councilman Johnnie Myers Mrs Myers and their daughter Linda survived injuries after a plane piloted by Myers crashed near Caldwell airport during a storm. Myers remained hospitalized while his wife and daughter were released.

Four men arrested in Salt Lake City after a jailbreak from Burley Idaho. Sheriff Beckstead said Marshal Moore and deputies stopped a car at the junction of U S Highways 40 and 91. suspects identified as Charles Tarrant Jesse Faust James Cole and Richard Sueizle. They admitted linking to the Burley break and Burley garage theft of a car 100 in cash and 500 in checks.

Airliner With 40 Aboard Burns After Crash

The sheriff reports a Standard Airlines plane crashed and burned atop Santa Susanna Pass in the San Fernando Valley. About 40 passengers were aboard. The airline says radio failure occurred 15 minutes before a planned landing at Bur bank.

Auto Kills Deer on Portneuf Hill in Idaho

An Ohio tourist car struck and killed a buck on Portneuf hill, five miles south of Pocatello, at about 8 a.m. Tuesday. The driver stopped and cut the animal's throat. This marks the second deer killed at that location in recent days, according to Sheriff Alma Marley.

City hall sources report the Pocatello city council moved in a secret session to incorporate two municipal airports within city limits. The action came a day before American Falls was set to expand its limits to include nearby night spots and county properties. Truman asks CIO Steelworkers to pause strike for 60 days

President Truman urged the CIO United Steelworkers to suspend planned wage dispute actions for 60 days while a presidential fact finding board examines the wage and pensions dispute. American League Stars Triumph in Wet All Star Game

The American League defeated the National League 11 to 7 in a record scoring all star game in Brooklyn. Joe DiMaggio led the AL with a two run double in the sixth inning while Stan Musial and Ralph Kiner homered for the Nationals. Attendance was 32,577 with receipts of 79,225.02.
