American officers report venom from Okinawa's native snakes is shipped to the United States to produce antivenom serum. Lt. Berlin observers report Soviet authorities formally relinquished control of 12 of the city’s 20 boroughs to American and British officers. U S detachments moved in at 9 a m in the American sector with the British starting at noon as Berlin’s daily life continued undisturbed under multi allied oversight.
Mrs Irene Cook of 431 South Arthur Idaho learns her son Sgt Marcel B Cook 26 died in a German prisoner of war camp on December 22 after being MIA since December 17 1944. Born January 19 1919 Oakley Idaho he later worked as a bookkeeper for Idaho Egg Producers and served overseas starting October 1944. Surviving brothers and sisters reside in Pocatello Caldwell and Texas with Pvt Carl W Cook among them.
Idaho reported total Seventh War Loan sales of 41.7 million dollars, exceeding the 29 million dollar quota by about 12.5 million. Chairman John A. Schoonover credited the state’s people and pledged compliments to all contributors for their support.

A 34 year old former soldier, John H. Buell of Cloverdale California, is charged in federal court with fraudulently seeking a disability pension by deliberately injuring his foot under a freight train near Neosha Missouri. An unnamed woman allegedly aided him. Buell, who was recovering at Percy Jones hospital Battle Creek, was ordered held for trial with $1000 bond after his discharge from the army.
