Caldwell Idaho July 11 H C Modrell bitten by a female black widow spider May 19 will probably recover his attending physician said today Modrell was bitten on the left shoulder while working on a WPA noxious weed control project this morning He received medical attention within minutes after the bite The spider was captured and brought to the physician for identification
Leslie J. Aker stated he is still in the race for the Democratic nomination in the August 11 primary. He presented a filing fee receipt for 99 dollars sent by wire to the secretary of state in Boise, noting his petitions were filed without the fee. He joked about astrologers predicting victory and cited his July 24 1887 birth under Leo, claiming luck through August 24.
In St Paul on July 11 Father Charles Coughlin predicted North Dakota Congressman William Lemke as next president with John Garner as VP. He said neither Roosevelt nor Landon would win a majority, forecasting the election would go to the House and Garner would be elected vice president.

Funeral services for Charles J. Donat a 62 year old Pocatello building contractor will be held here Monday. He died of a heart attack Thursday at the home of his daughter Miss Helen Donat. He and his wife Frances had been visiting Seattle. Surviving are another daughter Stella of Seattle four sons George Henry Edward of Pocatello and Charles of Nampa Idaho.
Idaho planning board chief Simons urged bankers engineers and citizens to back the Brineau reclamation project spanning Ellmore and Owvhee counties. Twin Falls extension Co. filed incorporation to reclaim 670000 acres at a $1,000,000 capitalization, promising vast growth and new schools banks hotels and stores across the state.

J C Adams longtime business manager of the Idaho Daily Statesman died suddenly in Boise after a heart attack. Born November 9 1867 in Prospect Ohio he graduated from Sioux Falls University in 1890 and entered newspapers in 1891 in Salt Lake City. Surviving relatives include his widow Mrs Cecil M Adams two daughters Miss Alice Adams and Miss Jane Adams a son Maj H J Adams and brother R S Adams. He belonged to the Masonic lodge.
SALT LAKE CITY July 11 Harry Olson a 42 year old World War II veteran was bound over to district court today for trial on an involuntary manslaughter charge in the death of his mother related to a bonus purchased car.
The Republican national headquarters announced Gov Alf Landon will attend a July 23 notification in Topeka drawing the largest midwest political meeting. Robert Owthwaite said overflow patrons would be housed in Kansas City with four railroads running special trains. Topeka hotels are booked, Washburn College fraternities and sororities will host invitees, private homes will provide hospitality, and efforts prepare for attendees at the Kansas free fair grounds.
Mary Frances Creighton, 36, mother of two, lies paralyzed by fear in Sing Sing ahead of her scheduled execution for the egg poison murder of Everett Applegate's wife. Doctors tested her with pins to prove she is not faking, as Gov. Lehman holds a possible reprieve. Dorothy Sherwood, 28, meanwhile seeks a new trial for drowning her son Jackie.
