The German fleet trailed the American steamship Lake Fort off Cape Henry as it returned from Europe. After a two hour engagement the submarine is believed sunk by the steamship. Captain Herbert R. Johnson, a U S naval reserve officer, has been commended to the navy for having attacked the U boat. Details of the fight are not yet available.
