Paris Troops Arrive For July Fourth Parade In Paris

A battalion of American troops arrived in Paris to parade on July Fourth. Crowds lined the streets as the units marched to Neuilly barracks, with French girls pinning bouquets and flags on soldiers and French soldiers greeting them warmly.

Pocatello Plans Fourth of July Parade and Daylong Sports

Tomorrow brings a big day for youth in Pocatello with a parade and full schedule of contests and games on Main and Center streets. Grand Marshal John H. Dickinson leads the morning pageant followed by a 24 piece band and a marathon for boys 14 to 19 starting at 10 am. The day also features a Greek float, a Brady Park baseball game, a street dance from 8 pm to midnight, and prizes totaling over 200 dollars. Various clubs and the Elk and Union Pacific teams appear in military parade order. Street closures and safety restrictions will be enforced by the city officials.

Rio Grande Traffic Over Short Line

Heavy traffic over the Short Line in recent days due to redirected western traffic from the Rio Grande system. Damaged Price River dam may disrupt service for a week or longer with forty miles of track out. Monday night westbound trains were crowded, making sleeper accommodations scarce from Pocatello. one train carried fourteen cars.

Brakeman F W Creaser fatally injured near Minidoka

F W Creaser a Short Line brakeman died after his skull was crushed near Yale Idaho Monday evening as trains passed the area. The crew had cleared the tracks when Passenger No 17 approached, leaving the question which train caused the fatal impact.

Local Brakeman Dies. Funeral Arrangements Pending

A brakeman who worked about two months before death and formerly a Short Line carpenter at the local shops is identified. Survived by a wife two children and a mother in Farmington Ohio. Funeral plans to be announced later with Undertakers Beasley and Hitler handling arrangements.

Evidences German Barbarity Brought Close to Home

Billings Montana July 3 one of the most pitiful sights ever brought to attention of eastern Montanans has been the passing through this section of a carload of about 60 Belgian children en route to a Belgian colony in Washington. Girls predominated and many were maimed lacking ears or hands in some cases both. Boys faced graver mutilation. Children were reportedly ill treated by German soldiers and the plan is to bring them to the United States as safe havens and aid from the Red Cross society continues.
