Baltimore July 3 Speaker Clark declares he never backed a third party or bolted a Democratic nominee. He affirms support for Governor Wilson with all his influence, saying he lost the nomination due to slanders by William Jennings Bryan of Nebraska.
In Baltimore on July 3, North Dakota Governor Burke withdrew his bid for vice president after a lengthy vote struggle that threatened a deadlock against Governor Marshall. Bryan’s dominance remained evident as Wilson received the party standard amid post adjournment revelry and cheers from Missouri and New Jersey delegates.

J C Kruger testified in the Darrow trial about an alleged bribery attempt by Bert H Franklin. He said Frank Fowler, a Los Angeles attorney, offered him payoff before Kruger was drawn as a juror and then hinted at more if he stayed on the jury. American medical officers in San Juan report bubonic plague exists but can be controlled and eradicated with strict measures. Since June 27 there have been 31 cases and 17 deaths, as per findings to acting governor M. Drew Carrel.
Chihuahua July 3 The wealthy state of Sonora will furnish the next scene of the Mexican revolution. Defeat at Bachimba near here is certain to mean a general exodus of the rebels west of Sonora where rich mines and haciendas are located.

July 3 Washington Andrew tendered his resignation as assistant secretary of the treasury to President Taft. In a pointed letter Andrew accuses Secretary McVeagh and his administration of indecision and hindering subordinates, prompting a White House statement that the resignation was accepted due to failure to obey orders.
Mrs. Sarah Platt Decker of Denver, ex president of the General Federation of Women's Clubs, fell ill at the federation biennial in San Francisco with intestinal congestion and inflammation. Dr. Cornelia Debey of Chicago attended her and said an operation may be necessary to save her life unless condition improves.
The Henley regatta opens in London with no challenge eight from across the water. The Argonaut Rowing Club of Toronto enters the Grand Challenge Cup and Ev erard B Butler represents in the Diamond Challenge Sculls alongside crews from France Russia Italy Tasmania and Belgium. The king and queen are expected at the event next Saturday boosting social interest.
Dr. W F Howard of Pocatello leads Idaho physicians to Portland for the joint tri state Medical association meeting with attendees from Idaho Washington and Oregon. Discussion centers on abolishing state boards and creating a national license reciprocity overseen by a national commission to standardize education and practice nationwide.

Ad Wolgast and Joe Rivers are trained and ready for the Vernon open-air ring bout tomorrow afternoon for the world lightweight title. Wolgast, returning after appendicitis surgery, appears in trim and confident. A large crowd is expected, with Jack Welch of San Francisco refereeing.
