Clifton Arizona reports a strike after an order signed by John Donnelly, president of the State Federation of Labor. More than 5000 workers are out of work as blast furnaces cease operations.
Pierre South Dakota June 31 The workingmen s compensation law takes effect tomorrow and aims to supersede the old common liability rule in suits by injured workers. All employers are covered except farm and agricultural laborers casual laborers domestic servants railroad employees in interstate or foreign commerce and those already under federal compensation laws.
The city proclaims a Civic Fourth of July in Poca focusing on young America. Streets will host street sports parades and band concerts from 10 a.m. to midnight with Center Street between Main and Arthur closed for the evening street dance and concert. Mayor A. B. Bean urges citizen participation and support.
Early today near Inkom a car carrying John Gibbs R N Butler and J Mason overturned on a steep grade after a curve. Gibbs drove the vehicle. Butler suffered a fractured hip and will be laid up for some time. Mason escaped serious injury as the wrecked car lay beside the road.

Goldie Jackson a colored man surrendered at the local police station after being wanted for the murder of a colored man in Kansas City Missouri. The sheriff and police received a Kansas City chief of police notice describing Jackson and stating he was believed to be in Pocatello. He had been employed by the railroad and will be sent to Kansas City once an officer arrives.
Petrogard July 2. A civic Fourth of July event proceeds in Petrogard with workmen and soldiers, led by Young America. The day features a big parade, court-house talks by Dr J H Mackinson and Douglas Smith, and multiple children's races, games, and prizes. The schedule includes a 11 a.m. marathon for 14-19 year olds, a 1:30 p.m. town marathon for under 14s, and various dashes, jumps, and rope skipping events with prizes.
