A large blaze swept through an area near the Wye in Pocatello, drawing multiple fire units to the scene. Firefighters battled flames and smoke, with residents reporting extensive damage and ongoing containment efforts.
A high west wind fueled a spectacular blaze in a pile of cedar posts at the Oregon Short Line yard. Three burned cars held 1500 ties. several stacks of posts and timbers were destroyed. Firefighters, aided by police and volunteers, saved remaining piles despite a quarter mile to hydrants. Loss estimated at six to eight thousand dollars beyond irrecoverable material. the fire raged for hours before being controlled early this morning.

Orrin Price, confined in the county jail awaiting preliminary exam Tuesday for the murder of his two year old daughter, has shown nervousness but no sorrow. He resisted talks of the tragedy as a crowd witnessed the killing on Stites main street. Price shot at his wife and a man, killing the child, before bystanders overpowered him.
