Senator Tobey said he will investigate who influenced President Truman to remove Marriner Eccles from the Federal Reserve Board chairmanship and move him to vice chair. Tobey deplores Eccles's demotion and plans to uncover the forces behind the decision.
President Truman would name Thomas B. McCabe to the reserve board if the Senate confirms him as a board member. Tobey's banking committee will hold hearings with eight of thirteen members expressing no objections and four pledging support. Eccles faces demotion as chair and faces criticism from Sen. Taft and others while weather disasters dominate national headlines with near 160 deaths and widespread cold and power/service disruptions.
District Judge L. E. Glennon heard arguments in Ora Roselle doing business as Roselle Bottling company versus Bistline Inc and others. Roselle seeks to restrain defendants from disturbing his possession of warehouse facilities on lots 9 and 10, block 369, S. Second Avenue.

Cash received for the Pocatello swimming pool fund reached a total of 8524 90 today, Mayor George R. Phillips reported. Contributions included 100 from Pocatello Lumber Co, 20 from Roselle and Company, 10 from Craig Warehouses, and 20 from F A Burton manager of Pocatello Flour Mills.

A pre meeting committee from Alameda and North Pocatello led by M L Coleman has asked to meet with engineers.
