Three Ogden men perished when their four seat light plane broke up in a power dive six miles west of Murray Utah. Pilot Dean L Knudsen 32 Edward F Nielson 34 and A M Sherwood 35 were killed as wreckage spread over a half mile near Wilford Coon farm.
Immigrant Mrs O Neill, born in Yorkshire, is named the oldest person in Penn State Medical Society records. Neighbors trudged through snow to wish her happy 110th birthday at her oil lit home. She credits the will of God and a routine of hard work rest and moderation for her long life.
The case of Nick Andrus charged with dispensing beer without a license at the OK lunch on Main within the 400 block was heard in Pocatello police court Monday before Police Judge Don Bistline. The judge took the case under advisement with Peter Mc Dermott representing Andrus.

The Idaho industrial accident board held a hearing in District Judge Isaac McDougall's chambers on the Nelson vs Petersen Furniture Co and Idaho State Insurance Fund case. Slaying of Albert D Walibert Jr. described by Capt John J Kilhourey with Inspector John F O Brien present. Lambert Jr. allegedly said his father pinned his mother and choked her before the boy grabbed a carving knife and drove it into his father’s back piercing his right lung.
Annabella and Tyrone Power end their marriage in superior court with a settlement. She receives at least 50 000 annually in alimony plus 17 percent of Power earnings over 310 000 in any year and a Brentwood home plus 291 a month for their child Annie. Power has pursued other relationships.
A collision at 1 35 p m Sunday damaged the front end radiator and springs of a car driven by Donald F Neilson 23 owned by Green and White Cab company and damaged trunk lid bumper frame and splash guard of Eugene R Baisch 19 of Hazelton. Baisch had stopped to admit a passenger at Residence hall when the cab traveling north on Eighth Avenue collided with his machine.
Dr. George L. Cross announced the University of Oklahoma denied Ada Lois Sionel Fisher a place in the law school citing Oklahoma’s separate schools constitution. The decision follows state policy enforcing segregation in higher education. The report also notes Idaho egg producers elect Aikman and Ziebarth to the board and Russia’s counterproposal on the lend-lease debt, totaling about $11.2 billion.
Deputies armed with a search warrant visited the Shamrock club three miles south of Pocatello on Highway 30 N Sunday. A series of strong earthquakes struck Panay island's city of Iloilo causing 27 deaths and extensive damage. Aftershocks lasted hours and sent residents fleeing to open spaces as fear persisted for higher tolls.
President Truman nominates General Omar Bradley to succeed Dwight Eisenhower as Army chief of staff. The nomination requires Senate approval and Bradley’s swearing in will mark his assumption of the top post. Bradley, 54, previously led the Veterans Administration and in World War II commanded the 12th Army Group. He backs universal military training and will push for related legislation in Congress.
In Bannock county fifth district court Judge L E Glennon hears the damage suit and cross complaint of Cliff A Ginzell Pocatello against L P Cox Bend Oregon arising from a Feb 10 1947 highway collision between Mountain Home and Boise. The plaintiff seeks 12316 50 and the defendant 26685 in damages.
Roland Smith won a private sale bid of 1525 dollars for multiple city blocks in Pocatello. The county stated the gravel pit has been worked out and holds no future value.

In Merrill Michigan a 20 year old suitor William Mayers allegedly broke into the former fiancé Joan Peloquin home and abducted her on a 300 mile car ride before she talked him into stopping. Assistant Prosecutor Henry Naezele said warrants would seek kidnapping and house breaking charges. Peloquin, 17, was safely returned to her parents Sunday afternoon after being forced to accompany Mayers while he drove toward Saginaw. Mayers was arrested minutes later as he prepared to surrender.
Frigid winds and a cold wave grip Utah Idaho and surrounding states with temperatures near zero. The icy weather has caused at least 60 deaths, damaged hangars and plate glass, cut power in Salt Lake City, and left highways slick as a new storm develops in the southwest and a break in California drought is forecast.
Marvin Milkes of Los Angeles becomes the new business manager for the Pocatello Cardinals. He has set up offices at Halliwell drug store and expects a stronger club with backing from William Walsingham and Joe Mathes of St. Louis. Milkes previously managed Fresno baseball and will help select a team manager soon. He is staying at the Bannock hotel.
Alameda Chief Jack Thomas asks Pocatello police to assist in locating a man aged about 40 who has mistreated young girls in the Alameda area. Description notes a yellow jacket, black shoes with yellow strings, and a blue or black four door Ford. Report filed at 12 30 p m Saturday.
A car driven by Clinton Lott, 43, of Inkom, hit the center abutment of the Halliday Street subway after a front tire blowout as he approached the south entrance. The 8:05 p m incident was reported by police.
General Douglas MacArthur said he would remain in Japan until his assigned task is completed, barring an extraordinary occurrence that would call him away. He marked his 68th birthday with the reaffirmation of plans to return to the United States after his work here is done.
