Phantom SSS submarine alert off Pacific coast debunked

MacKay radio reported an SSS message claiming a submarine near 34.19 N 133.12 W linked to KFZL and Arcadia, but officials say the call letters were cancelled in June and no such ship exists. Coast guard also received the message with no clear meaning. Arcadia yacht ownership traces to Toronto and Massachusetts owner, while Lloyds lists no Arcadia.

Halifax Urges Quick U S Aid to Britain

Viscount Halifax told reporters in Washington that Britain needed rapid mobilization of American industrial capacity to supply ships and materials. Weather warms as snow fails to arrive in Pocatello

Young Boy Lost Near 122 West Young Street

Donald Miller a 3 year old son of Mr and Mrs Vernon G Miller of 122 West Young went missing Saturday afternoon. Mrs Dan Worencroft found him near 1415 North Harrison and notified police. He was taken to the station where his father located him, the family having recently moved and unable to provide a home address.

Boise January 2 The Idaho legislature marks one third of its 60 day session with measures aligned to Governor Clark’s pledge to abolish “useless” commissions. Idaho Employers Urged to Pay Jan 31 for Tax Credit

Samuel D. Hays of the unemployment compensation division urged Idaho employers to contribute to the state fund by January 31 to secure a credit against the federal unemployment tax. The federal rate is 3 percent on payrolls of eight or more. Employers paying 2.7 percent to the state may receive the credit by timely state payments.
