In Oxford a small band of four men braved twenty foot snow drifts to rescue four starving horses found on a mountain west of town. The animals had not eaten for about twenty days and nearly wore down their hoofs pawing for food. The perilous ascent and descent required nerve and endurance as the party fed and brought the horses to safety.
