Hans Staley suffered minor injuries when struck by an automobile driven by Keith Anderson son of Inkom Saturday evening. The accident occurred shortly after 8 30 p m on the highway near Inkom according to the office Vernon Andrews Inkom was a passenger in the Anderson car.

Investigators comb wreckage of a B 29 near Great Falls Montana after a crash that killed four air force crewmen and injured eight. Names of the dead include Cpl William A Frankenberger Sgt Harold D Huddleston Sgt Robert L Leuck and Sgt James F Parker. Injured survivors list pilot Lt Charles J Cooper co pilot Lt James E Ahl and others with ranks listed from Spokane Herrington Baltimore and more. The officer said the injured were improving and would recover.
Four men and two teenagers died or were injured when a shell exploded as they removed unexploded ordnance from the Southwestern Proving Ground in Hope Arkansas. The victims were identified as Herbert Worthey 31 Felton Hartsfield 28 Melba Jean Worthey 16 and Mary Emma Worthey 12. Worthey’s wife Jenina 11 and Robert Bain about 19 were among the injured. An army demolition squad had issued a warning four days earlier to avoid handling shells and to alert authorities.
In Greece near Karpenisi north of Athens an American air observer Lt. Col. Selden R. Edner and his Greek pilot were shot down by communist led guerrillas during an unarmed observation flight. The U.S. and Greek authorities disputed the incident while Karpenisi’s siege continued with reports of Nationalist relief efforts.
Anchorage witnesses report an Alaska Airlines flight missing a 2 500 foot peak by 450 feet before plunging Thursday night. The crash killed two passengers and two crew members including Capt. Rector D. Land. Surviving crew member Peter Poumirau endured 20 hours suspended by a belt with severe injuries. The dead include Stewardess Lucina Nims Emerson and Co-pilot Robert Stevens plus Roscoe Spears and Stanley Hillman.
Stanley Hillman, a friend of Millard Carnes who works with his father at Carnes Music, is identified as killed in the crash. Carnes says Hillman originated in Yakima and the pair were in Juneau for five years during Hillman's radio inspection work in Alaska.
