Washington January 23 Senator Jones a Republican called President Wilsons plan of visiting the Capitol frequently to urge action on his program systematic lobbying, signaling partisan push for legislative momentum.
Senator Cummins of Iowa submitted a resolution calling for the senate to devote Monday onward to full and free discussion of the president’s world peace policy. All other business would be excluded until every senator could speak, not over one hour, per chairman Stone. Action was postponed until tomorrow.

Juarez Jan. 23. A six year tally shows eight men had the right to sit in Mexico’s presidential chair, a symbolic throne in Mexico City. Among occupants were Porfirio Diaz Madero Huerta Gutierrez Carranza and others. three are dead and many exiled. The chair is a carved gold leaf piece with red plush and an eagle dessus. Francisco Villa and Emiliano Zapata briefly occupied it during upheaval.
