In Paris a determined female swimmer enters a race despite injuries while Brady increases his count to four in the judge's five senatorial deadlock. Boise remains in a political stalemate as four dark horses enter the race with limited success.
New York report describes a dozen boys playing with a cardboard box football when a four days old naked boy rolled out. He was taken to a hospital, cried, and is expected to live despite an apparent near tragedy. In Versailles Premier Poincare leads on first ballot for president by a wide margin, with results showing continued counting.
Total votes cast reach 83 today with 42 needed to secure the choice. Officials report turnout for the local decision and remind residents of remaining counts and deadlines.
Special to the Tribune from Boise reports an unusual tie in today's voting for the senatorship after a deal to unite the solid north behind Ailshie. Seven votes shifted, but could not swing the result. Brady rose in line with his average while Babb votes moved to Ailshie and part of Beale, removing them from contention. The north tried for another vote but failed.
The Utah House approves tearing out the north wall to join two offices to the chamber creating space for desks and better ventilation with suction fans. Lawmakers adjourn briefly for the renovations and clerks move to other areas while the capitol commission’s report prompts calls for full legislative audit of expenditures.
Twin Falls aims to establish an agricultural college and scientific school. Senator Robinson introduced the bill, with further discussion continuing on page eight.
Forty five merchants and professionals gathered for a Thursday Commercial club dinner in the Citizens' building. The dinner price dropped to 50 cents, menu unchanged. Afterward the new board of governors scheduled a public reception for February 14 with lunch and short talks on the city and club’s future.

San Diego February 17 The cruiser Denver ordered to Acapulco Mexico to protect Americans endangered by Patillo and his band of rebels will depart today. She is delayed by one day and expected to reach her destination in four days.
Boise Idaho January 17 the Idaho senate unanimously adopts a concurrent resolution honoring the late Senator Weldon B Heyburn. The measure notes his civic ideals and service to Idaho and the United States and asks engrossed copies be sent to his widow. A second resolution requests investigation of the capitol commission over two years and the use of 750000 dollars. The joint session followed by adjournment until 11 a m.
Sheriff Ernest Lowry, in his inaugural term, recovered a group of valuable race horses stolen from the city fairgrounds south of town. The nags were traced to Snake River near Horse Island after detective work. A buggy and harness had been sold to an innocent buyer. the horses were found in a pasture with no clue to the thief.
The United States Bureau of Mines plans to expand its radium hunting force in the Rocky Mountains, viewing the region as a storehouse for the precious metal. The Civil Service Commission will hold an exam to fill junior chemist positions in radioactivity to meet this demand.
Chicago January 17 Sept. wheat closed at 8 94 4 with a fractional decline noted in today’s market. Stronger demand and weather hints influenced traders as prices moved within a tight range.
Mrs. Marcelina Elisalda, 105, reputedly the city’s oldest woman, and Pleasantino Leon, 80, applied for a marriage license in Los Angeles. The license was issued today.
Chairman Pujo of the house money trust committee testified before a federal grand jury urging indictment for contempt. The NY broker George H Henry refused to disclose the names of 24 national bank officers he said profited fifty thousand in a syndicate flotation of California petroleum stock.
Winnipeg dispatch reports a five story brick block fire in Edmonton Alberta leveling the building and causing a 300000 loss. Six Italian laborers were killed when a wall collapsed into their sleeping room in a boarding house.
The steamship Uranium, which ran aground on Sunday near Halifax, was floated today. Passengers were removed from the vessel shortly after it struck the rocks.
Constantinople January 17 The collective note drafted by ambassadors of European powers in London was presented to the Turkish government today.
London reports Germany has forwarded a note drafted by European ambassadors to the Ottoman government. The dispatch was sent to the German Ambassador in Constantinople to present alongside other diplomatic colleagues in Istanbul.
A large gathering of businessmen and farmers in Idaho Falls urged support for building a railroad from Idaho Falls to Wells via Twin Falls. Charles Aiken outlined securing capital in San Francisco and boosting local tonnage to aid farmers. The club endorsed Twin Falls Commercial Club efforts and appointed a representative.
