Hitchcock Elected at Lincoln Today

Massachusetts Legislature deadlocked over choosing a successor to Senator Lodge and McLean. In Connecticut Albany reports Morgan Bulkeley succeeds. Sheehan led Democratic candidates with 91 votes across 196 members, eight short of the required majority. Ballot showed House 66 for Sheehan, 12 for Shepherd, 6 for Parker, 0 for Herrick, 1 for Gerard, 1 for Littleton, 59 for Depew, 4 absentees. Senate 25 for Sheehan, 2 for Shepherd, 1 for Herrick, 1 for Gerard, 1 for Littleton, 20 for Depew, 1 absent.
