Washington January 15 The house is expected to pass a joint resolution proposing a constitutional amendment to set Inauguration Day on the last Thursday in April. Ratification by 35 states after approval by Congress and the president would extend President Taft’s term by about two months without compensation and lengthen the short session accordingly.

Walter Lonsdale, former associate of Dr. Frederick Cook, doubts the Arctic explorer’s integrity after the University of Copenhagen rejected his North Pole claim. Lonsdale estimates Cook profited about fifty thousand dollars from the reputation, noting Cook was at sea December 14 to 24 and unaware of the committee’s decision when he wrote a December 24 letter from southern Spain.

Boise Jan 15 Henry Asmussen of Payette injured in the wreck between the Pony and a freight train at Arcadia is in grave condition at St Luke's hospital from burns and steam inhalation. Engineer William Dean Busteed of the Pony died after the collision and will be buried this afternoon. Busteed, a popular Boise railroad man, leaves a widow and two sons and had long been a trusted Oregon Short Line engineer.
