Fire consumes 17 buildings in Redding blaze
A morning fire in Redding California destroyed seven structures housing 17 businesses in the central block. Fire Chief Henry Klaukens said cause was undetermined as flames driven by a NW wind demolished the Pioneer store where the fire started. The total loss estimated at about 1 million, with insurers listing 750 thousand. One spectator injured, no confirmed deaths among firefighters. Volunteers aided alongside eight paid firefighters plus crews from Red Bluff and the state forestry service.

Lieut G E Lehman said the Boise district will handle enrollments statewide and that 56 enrollees went to Boise area companies while 10 joined Company 1997 in McCall, 30 to Company 1996 in Council, 16 to Company 971 in Boise, and 5 to Company 1967 in Lucin Utah.

Victims in Freak Car Accident Satisfactory Condition
Mrs Myrtle Jensen and F J Labbs were reported in satisfactory condition after a Friday crash 15 miles south of Pocatello on the Yellowstone highway. Labbs, 51, from 905 N Garfield, swerved and hit a haystack. a truck driven by H A Bateman of Pocatello could not stop on ice and struck their car, pushing it over a embankment and onto its top. Mrs Jensen had neck and back injuries. Labbs had rib injuries.

Fatal Injuries Claim Mrs Martha J LaMont At 76
Mrs Martha J LaMont 76 of 333 South Fifth avenue died in a local hospital at 12:30 pm today from injuries received when struck by a truck at 5:40 pm Saturday in the 300 block of South Fifth. The truck driver Earl Rhoades 23 of 229 South Garfield said he was blinded by approaching machine lights. Funeral services set for 1 pm Monday at the L D S second ward chapel.

Four Car Crashes Reported With One Injury
Police logged four accidents on Saturday. Frank Lane, 31, was injured after a car driven by Delbert J. Stephenson struck him at 5:47 p m at the west entrance to the Center street subway. Record Hog Shipments From Grace by Local Association
A total of 892 hogs weighing 185 850 pounds were shipped Friday from Grace by the Bannock County Livestock Marketing association.
