Weisman Seeks Release of Explosives for Palestine
Leonard M. Weisman, New York exporter, plans to move 199 tons of explosives seized in New York and New Jersey to a trucker, then a wirehouse, to obtain export licenses for Palestine. He says funds from the Jewish agency financed the purchase for Hagana forces and that the plan was to ship after May 15. Sixty-eight tons were in New Jersey with the rest at Romulus New York area wartime stockpiles. The FBI rejected claims of advance knowledge, saying the assertion is baseless.
