Convict Dies In Gas Chamber In Nevada Prison
Paul Maynard Skaug a 24 year old inmate from Oshkosh Wisconsin died today at Nevada state prison thirteen minutes after entering the gas chamber. He was convicted of the 1944 killing of Beate Marie Voss during a Reno burglary. Doctors said Skaug was unconscious seconds after the gas began and corneas will be donated to a needy case. Ladell McKay was slated for execution but had his sentence commuted to life two days earlier.

Fire Injures Three at Idaho Potato Warehouse
A two months old Idaho Potato Growers Association warehouse in Newdale suffered severe damage when an oil burner spilled oil and ignited a fire. Three workers Eldon Hansen Cleo Howard and Kenneth Stewart received burns and were treated at St Anthony hospital. The cinder block structure limited damage and the plant was expected to reopen within a week.

Funeral services for Virginia Lindquist

A 1934 Preston area two door sedan struck a northbound Union Pacific freight train one mile south of Dayton Idaho. The impact derailed the freight train and damaged two wheels of the 60th car. Three occupants Mark L Winward wife and Richard Henderson escaped unharmed though Mrs Winward an expectant mother stayed overnight for observation. The southbound passenger train was delayed about ninety minutes while crews replaced the car on the rails.
