Document presented at the International Military Tribunal details Julius Streicher as a sadist and thief who beat people with a riding whip in company with others. Goering’s prewar investigation led to Streicher’s removal as Gauleiter of Franconia while he remained Der Sturmer editor and published anti Semitic claims about Jews contaminating Aryan blood.
The navy recruiting station reports new enlistments including Lester Herman son of Ralph Quint in Rexburg Merlin Henry Keen son of Henry Thomas Seipert Rexburg Glenn Taylor son of John Le Roy Taylor Rexburg and Rexburg area residents among the recruits.
Idaho State Medical association urged the planning board to abandon the Gooding college as a state tuberculosis hospital. A five‑physician committee led by Dr Wallace Bond found the site inadequate and urged selecting a location near a larger population center and building a new facility with federal funds likely to aid new construction. The report listed multiple drawbacks including no private rooms, poor X‑ray and lab facilities, and insufficient staff housing.
Washington brief reports a government fact finding board recommended a wage increase of 192 cents an hour for General Motors production workers. President Truman called the plan thorough and urged GM and the CIO United Automobile Workers to end the 50 day strike, with the board advising return to work without discrimination.
Boise attorney Jack Musser drank a whiskey highball in a hotel coffee shop to challenge the 1939 act on public drinking. He aims to repeat the action to urge clarification by the attorney general and Ada County officials, arguing the law is vague and that drinking in a temperate public place should be legal.
Captain Dorothy C Stratton, the Spars founder and first commander, retires January 16 after leading the coast guard womens reserve known as the Spars. She coined the name from semper paratus meaning always ready.

Idaho officials said a planned nationwide strike by communications workers may be averted as switchboard operators likely stay on the job. Four Boise and four Pocatello locals joined the walkout, with picket lines expected Friday. A union proposal to halt the strike awaits a response from the company and U S conciliators.
The body of William Clausen, 42, of Spangle Washington, rancher, drowned with his brother on October 26 at Priest Lake and has been recovered by Ike Elkins, a resort operator. Dragging to recover the remaining man, Frank Clausen, 50, of Rosalia Washington, continues.
More than 50 southern Idaho members of the American Cancer Society attended the opening session of a two day training school at the Bannock hotel to map plans for attacking cancer.
