The Associated Press reports Japanese forces struck on multiple fronts as the United Nations revealed the Dutch East Indies as a forthcoming target and Congress considered a vast 1943 budget of 56 billion dollars to fight the Axis.

A county clerk issued a marriage license to Archie E. Chandler 19 and Vonda H. England 19 of Pocatello. Roger G. Dimick 21 of Montpelier and Donna Sewell 21 of Driggs also received licenses. Paul R. McClellan of Blackfoot and Rachel Heaps of Pocatello wed Monday in Pocatello, officiated by H W Henderson, head of the L D S stake, in the probate judge's office.

Mattie Tenday received a 60 day jail sentence after being arraigned Tuesday before Justice of the Peace Charles W. Hyde on a public intoxication charge. The case notes she is an old offender and was transferred from police court.
Hog action filed charges Earl Walker with offering for sale nine hogs on December 9 alleged to be infected with hog cholera. The information states the hogs were not offered for immediate slaughter under meat inspection regulations.

Mary McLaughlin 71 of 412 West Center died early today at a local hospital after a brief illness from a stroke she suffered Tuesday. A widow of World War II veteran Harry J. McLaughlin, she moved to Pocatello in 1914 and was active in the American Legion Auxiliary and St. Joseph's Church. She is survived by son George S. McLaughlin of Mexico City, daughter Anna Borbidge of Philadelphia, five grandchildren, and a grandson Jack Borbidge who lived with her in Pocatello. Funeral plans await arrival of relatives, and the body is at Downard mortuary.
