The court holds Sheridan and Broxon citizens in contempt with a guilty verdict. Justice Sullivan writes that the opinion upholds the court’s inherent power to punish contempt while Justice Ailshie dissents and Stewart concurs.
James R. Keene financier and horseman is reported seriously ill in his Waldorf Astoria suite in New York City. After a period of illness his condition is described as critical and friends are alarmed at the setback.
In Boise on January 2 R 8 Sheridan and C O Broxon publisher and managing editor of the Boise Capital News were found guilty of contempt of court by the state supreme court and each sentenced to ten days in jail and a $500 fine. A R Cruzen, alleged to be interested in the paper, received the same sentence and costs were assessed. The trio were jailed after custody by the sheriff.

London January 2 In a tense exchange Dr Daneff head of the Bulgarian delegation warned negotiations with Turkey would be broken off unless a Turkish proposed boundary map conformed to allied terms He said Adrianople and Aegean islands would not be surrendered by Turkey regardless of islands disputes and described renewed war threats as diplomatic games by both sides
Charley Clark son of a Montana copper king hosted a party for joy riding friends. He rented a San Francisco cafe ball room at a cost of one thousand dollars and led a three hour ballroom session after paying. His crew arrived in several autos from San Mateo for the diner party.
Officials announce high level attendance for the Reid funeral in New York. Presidioan and key figures including James Feice Blomam with Knox’s identification and Col. Lowther, aide to the Canadian governor general, will attend the ceremony.

Edward E. Wagner of Mitchell South Dakota United States attorney for the state resigned today. President Taft accepted the voluntary resignation.
Des Moines Iowa January 2 George W Clarke of Ade elected governor of Iowa last November inaugurated today with naval ceremonies and the others chosen to state offices at that time.
