He had already been indicted for first degree murder in the death of Joseph Storelli of New York and also confessed to the 1924 slaying of Harry Quinn in Stranton Pennsylvania. Police found Storelli’s body in a meadow near Secaucus New Jersey after following Kudzinowski’s directions. He tore up a signed confession when asked to, and authorities increased jail security due to mob threats.
A fire on Lake Shore Drive last night started in a Jennings family apartment after celluloid toilet articles ignited by a cigarette. Raymond Jennings, head of a Tealty firm, was rescued by a park policeman. Mrs Jennings and Edith Haffner escaped fumes but unharmed. Fire losses confined to the Jennings unit despite many tenants evacuating.
Four survivors from the Vestris disaster joined Celtic passengers arriving at Holyhead and traveling by train to London. The crew members identified were Hugh L. Jones hospital attendant Percy Hudson steward Thomas Robinson bedroom steward and Ernest Robinson seaman. The liner crashed on rocks off Cork harbor leaving passengers travel worn.
Bolivia withdrew today from the Pan American conference of arbitration and conciliation after the gathering sought to settle the Paraguayan Bolivian dispute. Minister Diez de Medina delivered a note to Secretary Kellogg, chairman of the conference, signaling Bolivia’s exit.
