Notre Dame defeated Southern California 27 to 0 at the Los Angeles Coliseum before 90,000 fans. Knute Rockne’s Irish ran their winning streak to nineteen straight, solidifying his status as the era’s top coach and leader in college football.
Nelson C Bowles and Irma Loucks Paris were arraigned in circuit court on first degree murder charges in the death of Leone Bowles 33. Preliminary hearing waived the case goes to the grand jury next week. Both admit being in the apartment where Leone Bowles died with a knife wound said to have been inflicted with murderous intent by either Bowles or Paris.
A Denver jury will decide Monday whether Mrs. Pearl O Loughlin murdered her 10 year old step daughter Leona. Defense rested early after the state rested, with expert testimony disputing glass particles found in the child's stomach and the father’s.
Meuse valley villages return home as official inquiry rules the deadly fog caused 64 deaths by weakened respiration rather than industrial gas. Most victims were over 50 with heart or bronchial conditions. cattle also died and residents faced illness and inconvenience.

In Salt Lake City police seek Jean Doyle 29 in connection with the slaying and robbery of Sam Frank 65 a Memphis jewelry auctioneer. About 65000 in jewels and cash were taken. Frank’s body was found in a hotel room with gagged mouth and tied hands after a drinking party. A broken bottle and other items suggested the crime. Also, President Hoover era money matters include Melvin’s opposition to immediate cash payment of veterans bonuses and Senator Vandenberg’s counterproposal for government bonds equal to certificate value.
In South Bend on December 6 a student protest celebrating Notre Dame’s win over Southern California was halted by a school prefect. About a thousand students gathered outside a theatre, a guard used tear gas paraphernalia, and officials intervened after the prefect warned against such conduct.

An explosion at the Lamb coal mine in Madrid New Mexico killed three workers and injured several others. The dead are foreman Tom Burke electrician Victor Liesse and miner Henry Griz gale. About one hundred miners in other sections left the mine calmly as rescue teams responded.
President Hoover pressed for strict economy in Congress as relief programs risk overspending. He warned of a potential 355 million dollar deficit this year versus 180 million in earlier plans, while committees trimmed drought, relief, and unemployment funds and discussed tax tweaks. Cooperative steps remained amid fiscal pressure.
Idaho officials say the Hoover committee on conservation and administration of the public domain will not endanger reclamation or highway funds. Commissioner I H Nash notes a split between oil and gas producing states and those with rich surface values.
