Snow fell across northern Utah with two inches at Ogden and Salt Lake City and heavier accumulation in the mountains. Pocatello stayed cold with eight below zero in places as ice formed on the Portneuf river and temperatures dipped to 14 above later.
Ginger Rogers and her mother, Mrs. Lela Rogers, say federal agents guard the actress after letters demanding five thousand dollars and threatening death were received. The letters, illiterate and in different handwritings, led to efforts to contact a supposed writer at a beach cafe for possible arrests.
Boise and Nampa members of the Butchers union began a strike for higher pay and shorter hours in Safeway meat departments. About 10 union members are involved across three Boise stores where meat sales were handled by clerks. No violence occurred as wage talks with company officials in Salt Lake City stalled after eight months.
London papers kept crews on duty overnight awaiting a major announcement about King Edward and Mrs. Simpson. The motive was revealed with a cricket report from Brisbane showing England 263 for six against Australia, clarifying the day’s news.

The animal, exhausted, had been swept into the gulf after being chased from a jetty by dogs. L H Ensley of Dallas described the sight as the darndest look he ever saw.
City reports include Boise with 20 to 36 degrees and cloudy conditions and Trace precipitation. Chicago shows 18 to 36 with cloudy skies. Helena records 12 to 20 with cloudy weather and light precipitation. Pocatello 8 to 32 partly cloudy. Salt Lake City 25 to 34 with snow.
The Idaho state board of education approved a plan to raise 112,909 for a library wing addition at the University of Idaho in Moscow. Funding includes a 49,909 PWA grant and a 63,000 bond levy of 1.50 per semester for 15 years, with summer students charged 50 cents. contract expected January 15 and completion by July 1, 1937.

She reached Rouen by morning incognito after crossing the channel aboard the New Haven and was driven to the Hotel de la Poste with chauffeur bodyguard and secretary.
