A frosty Idaho morning saw Pocatello at 14 degrees and Boise at 22 as December opened. Snow was forecast for the north and west with a moderating trend elsewhere, while California and Colorado reported frost and fresh snow in higher elevations.
Crown Point Indiana December report says James Fur Sammons aka Fur Sammy a Chicago public enemy faces life after conviction for attempted bribery of an officer and habitual criminal status. He was captured at Cedar Lake for intoxication and allegedly offered $200 to Deputy Sheriff John Cook.

Wesley A. Burger, 36, a black man, was found dead yesterday in a padded jail cell in Salt Lake County Jail. Officers said he strangled himself with a wire after relatives told police he wished to run amuck.
Thomas H. Warren 69 of Salem Utah died here yesterday. He served 25 years as a railway locomotive engineer and later farmed at Salem before being brought for medical treatment to a Salt Lake City hospital a week ago. He was father of Mrs. Floyd Clark of Blackfoot Idaho.
A winter storm along the Black Sea lashed Samsun on December 1 causing 17 deaths, 150 missing, and $225000 in damage. Waves wrecked 57 fishing boats and flooded streets as residents sought refuge in mosques. Many homes were ruined and injuries overwhelmed hospitals while Turkish Red Crescent distributed tents and food.
Civil Works Administration checks totaling 16000 will be issued this Saturday in Bannock county with about 10000 distributed locally. Boise Idaho December first Governor C Ben Ross issued a warning to county civil works officials to follow regulations fixing the working time of men at six hours a day for a five day week. He noted some counties were pushing five hours a day across six days violating instructions. The administration planned the five day week to grant workers more home time with potential for profitable use.

Railroads announce a complete fare scale reduction from 16.67 to 44.45 percent, lowering day coach rates to 2c per mile and sleeping and parlor car rates to 3c per mile. Short limit round trips will be 2c per mile with a 2k long limit rate, saving travelers millions annually.

London December 1 An unofficial coroner’s report countering centuries of suspicion places the murders of the Little Princes in the Tower on Richard III and absolves Henry VII. Professor William Wright argues the boys aged 10 to 12 were murdered in the Tower, with evidence from Westminster Abbey bones and signs of long imprisonment prior to Bosworth.
R B Mellon president of Mellon National Bank and brother of Andrew Mellon died at age 75 in Pittsburgh after a month of ill health. He left a vast business empire and philanthropic legacy with Richard Beatty Mellon aiding the family fortune and affairs.

Mrs. Caroline O. Torkeldson aged 68 was found dead in her bed in Salt Lake City. Death was attributed to heart disease. She is survived by a brother Carl Olaveson of Hanna Idaho and a sister Mrs Emma Fixsted of Rexburg Idaho.
Police in Bielefeld Germany arrested 79 Communists on high treason charges. The group included organizers collectors and couriers said to have operated secretly in Westphalia amid the crackdown.
