Omaha Aug 19 two executive officers of the Machinists union left for Los Angeles for a conference of Harriman shopmen from all Harriman railroads. Demands will be set forth and backed by a strike if rejected. Blacksmiths machinists and boilermakers target Union Pacific Oregon Short Line Oregon Railway Navigation Southern Pacific with San Pedro exempt. This follows a separate Southern Pacific shopmen strike in progress for two weeks.

Rail lines target Salmon river route via Salmon City surveys
Two survey crews from the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad are surveying a Salmon river route down the Salmon and Snake rivers toward Lewiston with branches planned to meet the P and I N near Meadows and through Long valley to Roseberry. Tramps Captured After assault on clergyman’s daughter
In Youngstown Ohio on August 19 a group of assailants who attacked Alma White head fourteen year old daughter of a clergyman at Turnersville Pennsylvania were tracked by bloodhounds and captured early this morning in a swamp in Ashtabula county. They were driven thirty miles to Meadville Pennsylvania and placed in jail. Crowds gathered at different points with intent to lynch but a mobile car prevented mob action.
