The third annual reunion of the Army of the Philippines Society began in Council Bluffs Iowa with nearly 2000 delegates. General Irving Hale presided as addresses by Gov Cummins Gov Savage of Nebraska and others followed. Hale urged extending membership to those serving in the Philippines up to July 4 1902 and presented plans for uniform by laws for local camps.

Fatal Lightning Strike Kills Richard Payne at Oregon Ranch
During an electric storm in Ashland Oregon Richard Payne a former resident was killed near Phoenix seven miles north of town by a bolt that struck a large oak and forked into a wooded house where he sheltered. The bolt hit his forehead and passed through his body. The Daily Tribune.

Auto Crash Kills Mr and Mrs Charles Fair Near Paris
In Deveroeaux France an automobile carrying Mr and Mrs Charles Fair and Miss Virginia Fair crashed into a tree fifteen miles from Paris. Both were killed and the chauffeur reportedly went insane from the shock. The Fairs, linked to Mrs W K Vanderbilt Jr and the late Senator Fair, were returning from Trouville to Paris when the crash occurred. Charles Fair, son of the late Senator Fair, was among the heirs to a large estate.

Saloon Man Killed Near Glencoe On Passenger Train
James Feverley a Glencoe saloon man was shot and killed on a passenger train near Glencoe last night by J A McMartrie a politically prominent Oklahoma figure. The dispute stemmed from anti saloon league efforts to block Feverley and Henderson liquor license. Feverley attacked McMartie in the smoking car and the killing occurred. McMartie was moved to Pawnee county for safety to prevent lynching.
