Injured Man In Service Inducted After Hand Injury

He injured his right hand July 23 when a rifle discharged in his car, resulting in the loss of his index and middle fingers. Becker Case Goes to High Officer

Gustav Becker of American Falls faces a decision by Maj. Gen. Kenyon A. Joyce, commander at Fort Douglas Utah, on whether he serves in the army or as a tractor repairman. Becker was convicted of involuntary manslaughter in the tavern shooting of Loren McNurlen of Rockland on April 18. The judge withheld sentence for 15 months and Becker is paroled to J. P. Mehlhoff, with reporting to court this fall and summer term in 1943. He was drafted Tuesday and placed on a 14 day furlough ending August 7. Army officials have not commented on Becker’s fate.

Larry Lawrence Dies. Twin Falls Leader in Democratic Party

Larry Lawrence 52 former Twin Falls county chairman and state Democratic committeeman died at his home Friday night. He ran a bean company bearing his name until two years ago. Graveside services set for Monday at 8 p.m. in Twin Falls cemetery with the Masonic lodge in charge.
