Brig. Gen. M. G. McConnel longtime Idaho National Guard adjutant general died at age 67 after a lingering illness in Boise. A 35 year Guard veteran, he resigned as adjutant general last year due to ill health. World War II era General McConnel served as director of selective service in Idaho from Caldwell appointed by Gov. C. C. Moore and continuing under Republican and Democratic administrations.
