Storms rage across Chicago and surrounding areas killing six and injuring about fifty. Tornadoes hit Tennessee, Mississippi and Arkansas with twenty to thirty dead and widespread damage. Telegraph lines fail across the South as storms move from the northern to southern states.
A tornado swept over Texas City, 32 miles south of Carmi, this morning causing near total destruction. Four people were killed and several injured as the town sustained extensive damage.
A cold wave and heavy snow sweep across Wyoming with subfreezing readings in the Yellowstone region down to four above zero. Widespread livestock losses are anticipated as farmers brace for continuing difficult weather.
A powerful spring snowstorm sweeps La Crosse with heavy snowfall and blizzard conditions in Superior. Wind speeds reach 40 to 55 miles per hour as the storm rages into the day, disrupting travel and daily life in the region.
The South Bend company of the Indiana Guard moved to Michigan City to guard the northern prison walls after a tornado damaged the facility. About eight hundred inmates remain inside, many deemed dangerous, raising fears of a possible jailbreak.

More than a foot of snow reported in Colorado while Ohio towns Piqua Sidney Houston Fletcher St Paris and Kirkwood report a tornado 20 miles wide causing $100000 in property damage with no fatalities.
A Salonika dispatch reports that Abdul Hamid, deposed sultan of Turkey, will be tried before a constitutional court martial and it is generally believed a death sentence will be passed.
Two bandits who held up Northern Pacific passenger train No. 3 near Rathdrum Idaho are believed in Spokane awaiting excitement to subside. Six sacks of mail were rifled after they captured the engine and mail car and forced out trainmen with revolver fire. The coaches were detached and the train abandoned two miles west at Trent. The amount of treasure seized was not yet learned.
Beaumont April 30 report from Waterman says a race war has broken out between workers at two sawmills. Two men have been killed and six wounded in the clashes.
Chicago April 30 May wheat finished at 1.23 and a fraction cents at the close. The market showed firm demand with milling interests active in nearby contracts.
Senator George Day of Oakley arrives in the city to conduct an advertised sale of state lands in this county at the Pocatello courthouse starting at 10 oclock tomorrow. About 3600 acres across the county with some improvements will be offered at a price under ten dollars per acre if bids are accepted. The sale is expected to draw a large crowd, following Day’s successful Oneida county sale at Malad last Monday.
The Hague April 30 Queen Wilhelmina gave birth to a daughter this morning sparking nationwide celebration. The event creates an heir to the Dutch throne and is seen as strengthening Holland’s continuity and independence.
Lewis Hawkins a 35 year old single ranch hand at Wood land farms near Arimo died by suicide using a rifle held between his knees. He was found in a bedroom pool of blood after breakfast while under temporary insanity due to ill health. Coroner Howard deemed an inquest unnecessary.
The water case of C. B. Hancock et al. versus Heber Bloxham et al. over riparian rights on Brush, Spring and Yago creeks in Downey county continues under District Judge Walters in Shoshone. Plaintiffs and defense present testimonies on title to waters first used in the 1870s and later augmented by community ditches. A separate foreclosure judgment in Henry O’Leary v. J. J. Scott and wife was entered for $2,416.10 plus attorney fees. The water case is expected to occupy the court for the remainder of today.

Fort Worth reports three Black men were lynched by mobs early today in Marshall Texas after they killed a deputy sheriff. The incident followed the arrests and mob actions that eliminated the suspects with no immediate official response.
The old council meets for the final time as Mayor D W Church and the new governing body prepare to take over. Tonight’s adjourned session will cover the city treasurer report and possible salary actions while retiring officials depart and the new administration is welcomed.
Peter McCabe of Ogden defeated John R. Moore of Oakland after a 20 round bout at McNichols Wright hall. The match featured hugging and clinches with McCabe stronger in open fighting while Moore clung to the opponent. A local lightweights preliminary and a five-man boxing bout ended in a quick knockout dustup.
Stuart McNamara announced in Indianapolis that tomorrow warrants will be served on Delavan Smith and Charles R. Williams owners of the Indianapolis News. They face indictments charging libel over the Panama canal purchase. A preliminary hearing is set before Judge Anderson in the U S district court.
