Caldwell Idaho April 25 Judge John C Rice ruled that under Idaho's new 2 per cent sales tax law residents cannot be charged tax on purchases under 50 cents The decision upsets the current practice of imposing a one cent tax on many small items statewide
Judge Rice grants an injunction at the urging of Attorney General Bert Miller, ruling that the F. W. Woolworth company cannot collect taxes on small retail sales beyond the act’s specified amounts. The decision voids a 100 percent to 2 percent tax section but preserves the rest of the act as challenged.

In Helena on April 25 a court room audience applauded as Evelyn Okeson was acquitted of killing Ed Johnson after a collision between his truck and her trailer. Okeson testified Johnson lunged and cursed. she fired at the ground and the bullet ricocheted into him. The state had argued the shooting was deliberate.
President Roosevelt appoints Charles Edison of East Orange New Jersey to the national industrial recovery board to replace the resigning Arthur D Whiteside. The move follows the late Thomas A Edison’s son stepping into public service duties.
A nervous man entered a Chicago drug store and clerk Roby Phelps offered remedies before the customer drew a pistol and stole $47 from the register, then fled.
