Fuel trucks report most Armenian villages in the Alexandretta district burned and survivors scattered and hungry. Beilan holds out as nomads press, while a British warship seeking to land relief is refused permission. More British ships expected. in Constantinople the sultan appeared among cheering crowds.
An active squadron of the Russian Black Sea fleet under Admiral Bass tram command put to sea today. The destination of the vessels remains unknown.
St. Petersburg reports that the Shah of Persia did not notify the royalist commander at Tabriz of an armistice with Russia. In response, he has ordered the viceroy of the Caucasus to march to the city by force.
Washington April 28 By a 436 to 428 vote Mrs Matthew T Scott of Illinois was named president general of the Daughters of the American Revolution defeating Mrs William Cummings Story of New York The outcome favored the administration faction though several delegates declined to vote for unanimity on Mrs Storys motion
The steamer Versailles carrying Cipriano Castro, Venezuelan ex-president, docked at St Nazare. Castro spoke from bed in a nightcap denouncing the United States for siding with his foes and military moves. He hinted a future trip to Paris, with baggage loaded for a train departure.
L M Gordon of Pavitie barber shop near the Pacific hotel sold the business and fixtures to KB Fiske and W H Randolph of Ogden. They took charge this morning and will move their families to Pocatello arriving Saturday to settle in the Gate City.
B T Livingston chief deputy state game warden arrived in Pocatello from Idaho Falls after delivering nearly a million trout fry to southern Idaho towns. One hundred thousand were planted in Bannock county and nearby streams from Hay Spur hatchery. Next deliveries head to Bliss Hagerman Boise Weiser Lewiston and Clearwater country. The Hay Spur hatchery will near exhaust capacity. later the Warm River hatchery will supply about one and a half million natives. Idaho streams are now best stocked, thanks to Game Warden Stephens and Livingston.
George Oram Sr aged 52 prominent railroader of Pocatello fell dead from heart disease while walking to a freight train near the depot. Funeral planned Sunday under Masonic auspices with Odd Fellows and railroad orders paying last respects. He leaves a wife and two children Myrtle and George Jr. born in Essex England November 1 1856.
Fred J Barnes businessman and sportsman from Pocatello and leader of local duck and gun clubs has been named deputy state game and fish warden for the district succeeding Frank Morland. Commission arrived this morning and licenses are not yet available but expected soon. Barnes described as well suited and firm with game hogs and fish hogs warned to be cautious.
Chicago reports a pending turnover to the Greater Pocatello council led by Mayor D. W. Church as the old council adjourns after bills and reports. The finance panel outlines city finances and liquor-fee receipts while salary ordinance No. 200 proposes raises for mayor, city attorney, clerk, police chief and others before the new administration assumes power.
A special train from Mombasa brought Theodore Rong and party to Sir Alfred Pease’s ranch on Athi river. Roosevelt and three companions rode on a cowcatcher seat from Mombasa to Mackin, a fifty mile ride. They will camp several days and visit at least three mission stations in the protectorate before heading to Nairobi.

The Salt Lake baritone Miss Felsted wowed the crowd with Love Me and the World is Mine while Mrs. Hannafin and Walter Smith also drew encore praise at the Eagle Aerie social in Pocatello. Over 300 members and guests enjoyed a varied program ending with plans for a forthcoming minstrel show.
A German man about fifty killed by a streetcar on Fifteenth street and Cleveland place. He was dragged along the track with his body mangled. Clippings from a Chicago paper found in his pockets reference wheat and flour rising, suggesting depression may have driven the act.
The Utah Construction company won a contract to build a 30 mile spur from Twin Falls to Hollister for the Oregon Short Line. W L Wattis will supervise. work starts soon with a large crew to shorten Boise to San Francisco travel by about twelve hours, aiming to extend toward Wells. Preliminary surveys done months ago amid irrigation project rumors.
