Jerome Man Charged in Fatal Double Shooting
James Roberts 68 is held on first degree murder charges after fatally shooting Stanley Casto 30 and injuring William H. Smith in Jerome. Sheriff reports Roberts retrieved a .38 revolver from his tent after an argument over a named insult. Smith and L. C. Casto intervened. Roberts was captured nearby as bystanders wrested the gun away and fired remaining cartridges into the air.

The agriculture department announced no increase in sugar production limits in the United States.
