S R Stagner a 56 year old East side liveryman died after a brief pneumonia illness. Born in Madison county Kentucky he moved to Wyoming at 13. He operated cattle ranch Owl Creek near Lander before moving to Pocatello to run livery and liquor businesses. He leaves a wife twelve children and a large estate. Funeral is Wednesday at his home and will go to Lander for interment.
London reports William Brown a footman was remanded at Portsmouth on a charge of making a false registry entry in December last. Under the name Prince Athiolald Stuart de Modena he married Countess Ressell, who had obtained a divorce from Earl Russell for bigamy after his marriage to Mrs Somerville in the United States. The Countess was Earl Russell's first wife.
In Shenandoah Pennsylvania strikes report the Philadelphia and Reading Coal and Iron Company locking out workers today after warning on Saturday that refusing nine hours would mean discharge. Recalled laborers found no work available.
St Louis April 29 It is stated that at least ten state senators will be indicted for either perjury or bribery before the inquiry ends in St Louis and Jefferson City.
Bakersfield California city marshal T J Packard died from gunshot wounds suffered in yesterday's clash with outlaw McKinney. The fatal shooting occurred during the confrontation as authorities pursued the suspect.
A westbound Erie freight split when a coupling broke at Red House. A fast passenger train struck derailed cars, destroying a small school house and catching fire. Baggageman Hotchkins was killed. five bodies were recovered after the blaze.
Police in New York announce identification of the dead man found in a barrel as Maduena Benedetto a 40 year old Buffalo resident. Identification was made by his brother-in-law Joseph Deprima who is currently serving time at Sing Sing prison.

Rev Dr Francke A Horton longtime Presbyterian leader and Temple Presbyterian pastor in Philadelphia collapsed while sermonizing to youths and died shortly after at his home. He was 56, previously served in Oakland California.
