New mayor Loux names appointments after council ratifies the list amid contest for fire chief. Gleare steps down as the city government transitions to a new administration and committees are named as the new council begins business.
The city announces new officers including Mayor Dr. Charles F E Loux City Clerk Thomas Gilmore Police Judge Thomas H Kane City Treasurer Goldie McAllister City Engineer W P Havener and four wards elected councilmen J M Bistline lem ple O Smith John Fust J J Williams Thomas F Terrell E G Houde Charles C Chilson T C Martin City Attorney W H Witty City Physician Dr J H Bean Chief of Police John McManis Patrolmen D F Myers J W Kelly Robert Bradley Chief of Fire Department William Price City Sexton Jo H Croxall City Weighmaster John D Bureh.
The last meeting of the 1905-07 city council approved officer reports led by City Treasurer Reeves and a closing audit. Mayor Cleave praised the council, transfer of power to Mayor Loux was completed, and the new administration prepared to uphold the Citizens' party pledges amid city improvements.
In a final gathering two years after taking office Mayor Cleare recalls hopeful beginnings and credits the council with harmony and loyal support. He expresses sadness at parting while affirming continued commitment to the city’s best interests.

The alleged plan by Pennsylvania anarchists to kill President Roosevelt is under investigation by U S secret service men. John Bartula, just arrived from Andesried Pennsylvania, is said to have revealed his former gang membership and exposed their revenge plot.
A party of ten eastern capitalists mainly from Chicago travels through Pocatello toward Milner for the North Side land opening on April 22. The group includes Ben B. Boyce Ottawa IL O R Sherman Eugene E Prussing C F Cadell L Coatsworth J W Banberry K L Hollister A R Creigh Chicago and Albert L Thomas Baltimore. They stay at Bannock Hotel and tour the Short Line shops while praising Pocatello’s growth and Gate City prospects.
Chief C S Smith arrested Ah Wah an almand ered Chinaman from Butte as he alighted from a northbound train. Wah is wanted for robbery in Butte and carried a large sum of money and a ticket to Hong Kong. He is held in the city jail awaiting officers from Butte.
Fire in the Mississippi Valley Automobile company garage in St Louis spread to the Central Automobile Exchange, destroying both buildings. About 1000 automobiles were burned with total losses around 225000 dollars.
San Francisco April 19 The Ruef case was postponed again due to the absence of Henry Ach senior counsel. Ach is ill from ptomaine poisoning in a city hospital. The trial will resume Monday with or without him.
In Nampa on April 19 C A Sackrider a Short Line brakeman aged 24 was crushed between two freight cars. He died instantly. He was unmarried and his parents live at Oaks North Dakota.
A university student in St. Petersburg named Matzok has been arrested as a suspect in a plot linked to the April 10 attack on Grand Duke Nicholas’s train during his return to the city.

Parents were away and the child suffered burns from head to hip and on one leg while doctor J H Bean attends him as he rests.
