Grand Jury Meets in Bannock County Courts for First Time

District Court and United States Court convened with Grand Jury panel led by Wm. F. Fisher. Judge J. C. Rich charged the jurors on duties and secrecy as they study public offenses, county finances, jail conditions, and county offices. Judge Rien submitted the charge. April 9 1900. Divorce actions and naturalization followed: Anna Underwood and Catherine Gump granted divorces.

Indian Agent Caldwell authorizes Joseph Brim of Pocatello Idaho to herd the town cows on the reservation. A grazing fee of 50 cents per head must be collected and turned into the office promptly.

No Trace of Policeman O Connell in Disappearance Case

No trace of Police Officer Michael O Connell has been found after his disappearance on April 3. A broad search of the river and surrounding hills by private parties and Woodmen members, plus telegrams to towns within two hundred miles, has yielded no clues or clues. A $200 reward is offered for information leading to his discovery, dead or alive.

Correction on smallpox case location in town

A town rumor claimed a smallpox patient was found in the Wood River, which is false. The patient never was there. the tale likely started when Mr. Mombert refused entry to his business and alerted authorities about a suspicious case roaming the streets.

April Storm Sweeps Region With Snow and Wind

A two day storm brought heavy snow and high winds. Sunday was the coldest day of the winter, while Monday warmed and melted the snow into mud. By today the weather is fair and forecast calls for warmer, clearer conditions tomorrow.

The state prohibition convention in Boise last Thursday nominated a full state slate and chose delegates to the national convention. The ticket is led by Rev. W. J. Boone of Caldwell for governor and Miss Amanda Way of Boise for representative in Congress.

Idaho Towns See Republican Gains in Local Elections

Across Idaho towns Malad Rexburg Pocatello and several others saw party lines emerge with Republicans winning in Malad Rexburg and broad local contests elsewhere. Pocatello reported 1578 votes near a city high while several towns like Moscow Wallace Caldwell and Rexburg elected mayors and trustees amid mostly nonpartisan or local-issue campaigns.
