Washington April 9 Ethan Allan Hitchcock 74 former secretary of the interior under McKinley and Roosevelt died this morning at 11 o'clock after a lengthy illness. He is survived by Mrs Hitchcock and three daughters and was attended by Lt. Cmdr Sims and George C Hitchcock of St Louis. Funeral set for Monday in St Louis. His tenure sparked intense western land probes and aggressive government prosecutions drawing sharp attacks in Congress and at the White House.
