Rome reports Ethiopia organizing large troop movements toward the Eritrean and Italian Somaliland frontiers under Emperors Haile Selassie. Italy says about 75 000 Italian and native troops stand ready in East Africa with over 30 000 having sailed from Italy to the colonies.
In Washington on April 3 194-, Chairman McSwain urged making the American air force the strongest in the world and called aviation leaders to a hearing on army air corps legislation. Proposals include merging the air corps with the Bureau of Air Commerce into a federal department of air and boosting aircraft and manpower. Rickenbacker and Doolittle named to testify.
National Parks Airways Inc announced a second daily air mail passenger and express flight between Salt Lake City and Butte Idaho effective April 10. The tentative schedule shows Butte departures at 9 50 a m arriving Salt Lake City at 12 45 p m with a return from Salt Lake City at 2 30 p m arriving in Butte at 5 25 p m.
Pairing unsettled conditions with rain and snow in the south portion, the forecast calls for freezing temperatures in the north tonight through Tuesday.
Hilo Hawaii April 3 An early eruption of Kilauea volcano was predicted as a crucial time in 1935 by volcanologist Dr Thomas A Jagger. Reports describe shocks deep rumblings cracks in the earth and sulphur smoke while local businesses await the spectacular event viewed from near the crater edge.
Boise April 8 The Idaho state pardon board denied the third petition of Lyda Southard convicted of poisoning her husband at Twin Falls more than a dozen years ago. The panel also granted a conditional pardon to Fred Noorlander of Ogden Utah for a murder in Idaho. Noorlander must report monthly. The two cases topped 35 submissions reviewed at the fore noon session.

Congressional conferees on the 4.88 billion relief bill were called to meet late today as reports said progress toward a direct labor compromise was likely. Hopkins noted February relief rolls fell and costs dropped, while attributing much of the cost decline to a shorter February payroll cycle.
Dr. Kimi Nojima of Idaho Falls, a University of Utah and Michigan Medical College graduate, reportedly the only Japanese woman to take Idaho’s medical exam. She hopes to establish an M D in Pocatello if admitted, as exams proceed with Dr. Louis A. Ling and seven other applicants from various states. Nojima was born in Seattle and attended Idaho Falls schools.
In Charleston on April 3 Judge Collett Little presiding the juror puzzled by the empty seats asked where to sit. The bailiff then called John Morgan and a second Morgan answered present prompting the process of polling the jury in a vacation case.
Mr and Mrs Milford Christen sen of Route 2 announce the birth of a son on April 1 in a special notice.

Dr. Charles R. Scott of Twin Falls warned a typhoid epidemic could follow if conditions at Blackfoot State Hospital are not corrected. Mayor Edward Thoreson called the facility's sanitary state appalling, while Gov. Ross said a water shortage has long existed and will force connection to city supply to reduce fire risk.

Mrs Julia A F Lund reported 70 515 members and assets of 979 012 with 198 651 spent in the year and 972 488 person to person contacts. Mrs Kate Montgomery Barker named second counselor in the churchs first presidency, succeeding the late Mrs Julia A Child.
Twin Falls April 3 A coroner's inquest will probe the death of 2 year old Vernon Thiel struck by a truck Monday night as he chased a ball across a highway. The incident occurred in the highway area as the child ran after a ball.
The Utah forecast indicates cooler air moving in from the south with likely snow or rain in the northern portion tonight and on Thursday. Temperatures are expected to show little overall change.
The Pacific coast oil tanker strike, now tying up over 30 tank ships, faces a critical impasse. A union statement warns the conflict could undermine mediation efforts and threaten progress already made by the industry. The federal mediation board planned a recess after a lengthy conference with oil companies.
Mrs Bruno Richard Hauptmann said she dismissed Edward J Reilly as head of the defense counsel in her husband’s trial for the Lindbergh kidnapping and murder. She cited a $25000 bill as excessive. C Lloyd Fisher of Flemington, NJ is named to head the defense now.
The Wisconsin Progressive Party strengthened its position by winning two more state senate seats, narrowing the margin to within one vote of the Democratic majority while maintaining power in the lower house. EPIC candidates led by Upton Sinclair gained partial success in California with several council seats and a municipal judge race race, including a Los Angeles council race where Sinclair forces re-elected a council member and fielded numerous candidates in runoff elections.
